Care Instruction

Wool garments are prized for their warmth, durability, and natural elegance. Proper care will ensure they remain in excellent condition for years to come. Follow these steps to keep your wool items looking their best.

Hand Washing Wool Garments

What You'll Need:

  • Mild detergent for wool or baby shampoo
  • Clean sink or basin
  • Soft towel
  • Cool or lukewarm water

Instructions:

  1. Check the Label: Always read the care label on your wool garment. Some items may require dry cleaning.
  2. Prepare the Wash:
    • Fill a sink or basin with cool or lukewarm water.
    • Add a small amount of wool-friendly detergent and mix gently.
  3. Wash Gently:
    • Submerge the garment and let it soak for 10-15 minutes.
    • Gently swish it in the water to loosen dirt. Avoid rubbing or wringing.
  4. Rinse Thoroughly:
    • Drain the soapy water and refill with clean, cool water.
    • Swish the garment to remove all detergent. Repeat until water is clear.
  5. Remove Excess Water:
    • Gently press out water without wringing.
    • Lay flat on a towel, roll it up, and press to absorb moisture.
  6. Drying:
    • Reshape the garment and lay it flat on a dry towel or drying rack.
    • Air dry away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Additional Care Tips:

  • Avoid Hanging: Never hang wet wool garments to prevent stretching.
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Use cedar blocks or lavender sachets to repel moths.
  • Dealing with Pilling: Use a fabric shaver or sweater stone to remove pills.

Machine Washing Wool Garments

If the care label allows machine washing, follow these guidelines:

  1. Use a Wool Cycle: Select the wool or gentle cycle on your washing machine.
  2. Cold Water: Use cold water to prevent shrinkage.
  3. Mild Detergent: Use a wool-specific detergent.
  4. Dry Flat: After washing, reshape and lay the garment flat to dry.

Quick Tips:

  • Spot Cleaning: For small stains, gently dab with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
  • Ironing: If needed, iron on a low setting with a cloth between the iron and wool.
  • Avoid Bleach: Never use bleach or harsh chemicals on wool.
